Wildcat Hike & Cookout

Event Details

 

Arrival

  • Wildcat Creek Campgrounds off of Steve Tate Highway
  • The entrance to the Eastern Trails is located off of Steve Tate Road in Dawson County on Wildcat Campground Road. The Wildcat Campground Road is located just south of Pleasant Union Baptist Church. Follow the gravel road for approximately 0.8 miles to the Amicalola River and the campground. There is a kiosk sign located in the campground.
  • We will setup “base camp” and head out for our hike
  • Eastern Wildcat Trails
  • Cookout will occur after all scouts have returned from the hike

Food and Drink

  • Scouts must plan on providing their own lunch/snack, as well as juice or water while on the hike

Activities

  • Review principles of “Leave No Trace“.  See wiki link as well
  • 1 mile Hike
  • Geology Belt loop requirements
  • After hike cookout

Uniform

  • Scout must wear Cub Scout shirt and belt
  • Please, no neckerchief, neckerchief slide, or hat they will envariably get lost during the hike
  • If the weather’s mild, a long sleeve shirt underneath is recommended
  • Additional dry shoes, socks, t-shirt, and shorts/pants are highly recommended

  • One parent required from each family
